Freitag Recycles Art Posters for Eco-Friendly Handbags

Swiss brand Freitag made its mark with eco-friendly accessories crafted from recycled advertising banners, truck tarps, and other obsolete materials. Now the European label has set its sights on the world’s most prestigious museums for a new collection of green purses.

Some of the world’s most iconic art museums, namely the Los Angeles Museum of Contemporary Art, Mori Art in Tokyo, Venice’s Palazzo Grassi, and the Tate Modern in London, have donated plastic banners and posters to the fashion label. The exhibition posters for Picasso, Lucien Freud, Annette Messager and more will grace the limited edition tote bags. By keeping the design simple, the colorful artwork fabric really shines.

A new art accessory will be available through the Freitag website every week starting with the Tate Modern collection from August 6. But you may want to get in quick. With limited numbers, they’re sure to be snapped up quickly by art collectors and handbag enthusiasts alike.
