Eco-Friendly Matt & Nat Create Green Vegan Handbags and Clutches

Posted on: Feb 8

Green bagistas love Matt & Nat handbags for their eco-friendly ethos and bold contemporary designs. They're a lot chicer than an old canvas tote, and just as socially responsible. With a range of accessories for men and women including shoulder bags, clutches, weekenders, and laptop totes, something's bound to tickle your fancy.

Depending on the size, Matt & Nat recycle between 15 and 55 plastic bottles to create the fabric for each bag. The material is 100% vegan and contains absolutely no leather, despite its glossy good looks. It's a good thing too, because the United Nations says cattle creates more greenhouse gases than all the cars and trucks in the world combined.

Never a label to rest on its laurels, Matt & Nat is committed to making its handbags even greener. Shiny PVC trim will be replaced by a more eco-friendly PU in all new purses by the end of the year.

But Matt & Nat is more than a green label; it's also socially aware. The designers are committed to creating "child labor free" accessories, and they visit their factories four times a year to ensure conditions are up to scratch. They're also involved in a number of local charities, including feeding the homeless in their native Montreal and helping customers recycle their old bags through Dress for Success and Project Chance Resident.

Matt & Nat bags are available from boutiques like Fred Segal and Holt Renfrew and department stores including Nordstroms, Neiman Marcus, Saks, and Bloomingdales. They're always affordable at around $300 for a shoulder bag and $80 for a smaller clutch or wallet. But if you want to save a little more cash, make sure you check out the sale at Matt & Nat's online store. With up to 60% off iconic purses like the Jorja and Portishead, you could bag yourself a bargain.

I love what you guys are doing – But – I am looking for a back pack – like Baggalini’s with pockets and credit card slots – like the Kipling’s Seoul or Firefly purse back pack designs – need a “shaman bag” for my healing tools -I am an acupuncture physician – but still need easy access to sunglasses – money, credit cards and a back pack purse like design with more than one compartment – and there’s no info I can find – about your back packs – is it just a big open area inside the bag or are there compartments ? could you have more than one back pack – can compartments be added ? I Have a business / store front and I want to promote eco products – but they have to be designed so they can be functional and easily used every day convienantly
