If there is one thing Bourne understands, it is structure. Bags like the Izzy clutch are dramatic and beautiful, but don't take things too far. The same has been done with the pleated flower detail on this little black bag, which combines layers of wavy ruffled fabric with a smooth black satin back.

Applique has been sexed up in the past few years, and these sort of handbags are the end result. They are smart and clever, and usually very sleek. I have to say, however, that I wish Bourne had opted for a smaller purse or bigger flower, because the base makes the flower stand out less.
