Be & D Nixie Tote Be & D dresses up the classic canvas tote with this Nixie bag.

The glazed lizard finish makes the tote's yellow canvas body feel a little more luxurious. I've never seen canvas treated this way, but it's incredibly well done. I don't think it'll fool anyone, but it does make the tote seem more exotic. The cheerfully hued fabric is further dressed up with contrasting tan lambskin leather panels. The details help separate the Nixie from the sea of canvas totes on the market.

It's just a shame the interior hasn't lived up to its promise. While I appreciate the Nixie's generously sized main compartment, I feel it deserves more than a single zippered pocket. That's especially true since there's no other closure. That little pouch is really too small for holding everything of value. The base isn't very wide either, so avoiding spilled cargo once the bag's set down is a bit of a challenge.

Most canvas totes cost far less than the $398 Be & D is asking, but most totes don't look as lovely as the Nixie. Personally I demand more functional features for that sort of money, but if style matters most I'm sure you'll be tempted.
