Zufi Alexander is really making a name for herself with her eponymous line of super deluxe, high style handbags. And not only that, but her name is becoming synonymous with some of the top names in Hollywood, like Katherine Heigl and Lindsay Lohan.
Most of Ms. Alexander’s designs bring a hot trendy point of view to a classic bag, like her Y Clutch. But, some of them like the Kiss Me and the Kiss It in Black Luxe, are bringing a hot trendy point of view to, well, hot trends, in a way that redefines rather than just simply refining.
The simple hobo shape is reimagined on the Kiss It with the top flap and strap closure. I love the way the flap rests against the compartment of the bag, setting itself apart, and creating an almost bow-like shape. The hematite toned hardware of the clasp exactly fits the bad girl attitude of the bag, and the futuristic upraised detailing on it adds another layer of interest.
The rolled leather handle both grows out of the bag, and is also attached with goldtone O-ring links. The clashing hardwares might be disturbing on a less edgy bag, but on the Kiss It, they fit right in. The real coup de grace is the gold link chain that adorns the front of the bag. Since it’s gold, it adds a little hint of uptown class, but on the backdrop of the black leather, it packs a punk rock punch.
I simply love the Kiss It, from the quality leather down to the close stitch detail, and back to its take anywhere, devil-may-care attitude. I can see it working as a great going out bag for an uptown girl looking to edge up her evening, or if you’re a little bit more rock-n-roll, like me, as a great complement to an already all black wardrobe. As far as what this bag will do for your attitude, the name says it all.
