Vans helps us get ready for summer with this Beach Bird purse.
Its name is a bit misleading, because I can’t imagine toting the Beach Bird to my nearest break. While it looks the part, it’s too small and too flimsy to serve as a beach bag. Its main compartment should hold everyday items, but it won’t fit a beach towel, flip flops, or the latest copy of your favorite glossy magazine. And even if it was big enough to hold beach essentials, its straw body is probably too brittle to handle the strain.
The tortoiseshell-like handles are gorgeous, but they’ve also got functional flaws. While they’re very smooth they’ll also feel hard in your hand. It’d be a major problem on a larger bag, but here it’s just a minor annoyance. And if it does become a major one, you can always use the longer cross-body strap. It’s too skinny to be truly comfortable, but it’s a step up from those short handles!
The Beach Bird is far from the most practical purse on the market, but its rainbow colors are really appealing. And perhaps for a mere $34, that’s enough!
