Tory Burch burst onto the fashion scene several years ago to fill the void of affordable, American-inspired sportswear and accessories. Her goal was to create trendy yet easily wearable pieces. Though I can’t say I noticed the apparently gaping fashion hole waiting to be filled, I definitely think that Tory Burch has earned her place as a successful designer. Celebrities like Jennifer Lopez and Oprah Winfrey agree.
The sporty, down-to-earth style of Tory Burch’s handbags make them look stylish yet completely attainable. They’re not the type of bags I expect to see walking down the runway, but any woman can imagine using them in everyday life.
I love the simplicity of the Burch Degrade Tote. The patent leather is the perfect sheen to show off the subtle variations of fuschia. It’s a simple shape for a tote bag, but that creates the perfect palette for the degrade effect. The complete unfussiness of the Burch handbag also brings out the perforated logo on the front. The signature cross shape enclosed in a circle is just noticeable enough to add detail but not too showy or distracting.
Though I expected the Burch Degrade to be made of leather, the patent PVC material tends to be practical for everyday wear and tear on a bag. If you prefer a more basic color, this tote also comes in black, though the pretty color variations are more noticeable in pink. If you want it for the degrade effect, go with the fuschia. Double handles are attached to the bag with square rings, and a hidden zipper closes everything in. The Tory Burch Degrade Tote retails for $395.
