Nancy Gonzalez is a relative newcomer to the fashion world, but so far, I am absolutely loving her style. All her bags are beautifully handcrafted of exotic skins, and her light design touch makes her bags timeless and elegant. This drawstring bag is gorgeous addition to her growing line.
The blue crocodile skin on this bag is truly exceptional. Its color is deep and dark, and looks almost like denim. That is, if denim was exotic and luxurious. The crocodile skin has a gorgeous luster, one small step below patent leather in terms of glossiness.
The voluminous shape of this bag is kept in check by the drawstring closure. It’s almost a bucket bag, but elegantly streamlined. The natural pattern of the crocodile skin is emphasized and exaggerated by the way the drawstring pulls the material. Gonzalez allows the beauty of the material show through by not muddying up the design with any ornamentation.
At $3,750, this drawstring carryall is a significant investment, but not prohibitively priced for an exotic-skinned designer bag. I’d say that Ms. Gonzalez has drummed up another winning design on this one.
