I’ve gotten behind Miu Miu and then given up on the label so many times in the past few seasons that I just can’t keep up with it myself. I guess I should just take each bag as it comes and stop trying to define the line as a whole. Which I guess makes this small leather satchel a great bag by a line that I’m not terribly sure about.
The soft pastel eggshell leather on this bag is very sweet, but not in a sickening way. In fact, the color is so pale it looks almost neutral, so it’s feminine, but also really versatile. The warmth of the gold hardware is an excellent tonal accent to the fair color of the material, and also offers some subtle textural contrast between the pebbled leather and smooth metal.
The classic satchel shape has been updated here with a few O-rings and buckles. The result is subtle, but effective. The bag looks modern, and maybe even the tiniest bit edgy, but still retains a timeless quality. The reasonable size and pared down shape make it versatile for day or night, and while it isn’t big enough for you heavy packers, it does offer enough space for the usual necessities and maybe an iPad.
As usual, I find Miu Miu’s pricing unreasonable. This sweet simple bag should have a sweet simple price, but it doesn’t. At $1350, it’s just a little too much.
