While I love Miu Miu’s sometimes off-kilter and avant garde design approach, when they do classics, the results are always spot on. Every detail of this gorgeous Paloma bag has been carefully thought through, from the drop dead red color to the tiny studs on the straps.
Seriously, though, let’s talk about this color. It’s extraordinary! This is literally the richest red I’ve seen on a handbag. The blue undertones are so pronounced that it stops just short of being purple. This is one attention-commanding red handbag, that’s for sure.
The shape is that of a traditional satchel, but there are little vintage details that make the Paloma look really special and unique. The curved seaming on the flap front, for one thing, and the abundance of straps and gold-toned hardware are the little touches that make this bag stand out.
I really can’t find anything not to love about this bag. I even love the front clasp, which has a chic geometric look that is almost art deco. The price, however, leaves a something to be desired. At $1,650, the Paloma is pretty pricey for the Miu Miu line, and definitely out of touch for recessionistas like me.
