Have you always had a bit of a thing for baskets and wicker? Vintage picnic baskets have been high on my fashion radar for a few years now, so this posh interpretation from luxury designer Maxx New York is the perfect item for me.
Maxx New York has done quite a few barrel bags in the past few years, and as such they are experts in these round distinctively shaped purses. This explains the knowledge that has gone into the visually dramatic shape, from the patent leather cutout handles exaggerating the silhouette through to the clever padded corner guards. These guards in particular are worth a look, as they add a stylish biker edge to the handbag at the same time as protecting the notoriously fragile wicker corners.
Whilst the stylish nature of this deep black clutch is obvious, something you wouldn’t have expected perhaps is the space. Wicker frame bags like this generally constrict your storage room, but Maxx New York has been clever and used the over-sized design to give you plenty of room for your belongings. The handle may not be the most practical (or the most comfortable), but at least you don’t have to leave too much at home.
This Regatta clutch is a smart but unusual purse. With an iPod pocket and funky clasp, this may be just the bag for a fashion conscious techno-diva!
