Handbag dogs might be on the way out, but while there are pretty blondes who can’t bear to leave their Chihuahuas at home there’ll be a call for pet totes like this Scottie Bling bag from Juicy Couture.
What I like most about this pet carrier is that it doesn’t look like a pet carrier. Its classic tote shape makes it appear much more like a regular handbag than the average pet carrier, and in turn much more fashionable. So many of Juicy Couture’s trademarks are here, including the large Scottie dog decorated crest and smattering of rhinestones. But in black and gray, it’s much mellower than the average Juicy design.
This Scottie Bling tote puts fashion first, but it also functions well as a dog carrier. Its front zip closures make it easy to get Fido in and out, and its interior has a leash attachment to ensure he stays put. The open top design aids ventilation, and there’s a mesh panel to help puppy see out. The Scottie Bling is made from a mix of cotton and polyester, so when those inevitable doggy smells set in you can just pop it in the washing machine.
You’ll lose some of the creature comforts afforded in other dog carriers though. There’s no cushioning at the base for your fur baby, and no additional pockets for you.
At $298 this pet tote is probably a bit expensive. I wouldn’t spend that on a regular fabric tote, so why a pet one? But in such a limited market, perhaps Juicy Couture can charge pet owners what it likes!
