The patent leather finish, rendered in playful tones like Malibu blue and Jelly Bean green, demands attention. The shades are great for spring, but they’re not classic enough to become wardrobe staples.
Side zips look like they might help the bag expand, but no such luck. They’re a purely aesthetic element, which doesn’t really offer the punk rock edge intended. It’s disappointing, because I hear they have a habit of slipping undone and looking sloppy. Studded thread snakes through grommets to create a drawstring, but this is also a purely decorative touch. It’s a good thing too, because a fiddly drawstring would seem out of place with the Extra Extra’s carefree, flirty style. Instead there’s a convenient zip top closure, which opens to reveal a cute gingham lined interior.
A handy keychain hangs from the obligatory zippered pocket, so you’ll never have to rummage around your bag before starting your car. The flat bottom style is perfect for stashing plenty, while the long, wide shoulder straps provide the comfort you need when the Extra Extra is loaded up.
The Extra Extra is one cute tote with some real practical perks. I can imagine Jessica’s teen fans snapping up these babies, but older fans will probably pass it over for a more timeless design.
