Harveys, creators of the stylish and environmentally friendly seat-belt bags, have now expanded their range to include this bright and colorful tote. The woven bags, made out of old seat-belts, have been suitably dressed up for the occasion.
Taking on a patchwork quality, you can get these medium totes in color combinations “Peaches & Cream”, “Blue Grass” or the more dramatic “Carnivale”. All three varieties are bright and attractive, but I particularly recommend Peaches & Cream, with its leaning towards delicate corals and warm earth tones – it’s so on trend!
I have to admit that these bags are probably so successful and fashionable due to their novelty factor. Harveys have after all been featured in magazines from teens to crafts, and now sponsor their own range of crafts shows. They aren’t the type of classic design that will be sexy forever, but are definitely worth a shot if you like quirky vibrant items with an interesting story behind them. They are suitable for a number of situations, although look most at home on trips to the shops or during the day – the size means this tote would look out of place on a heaving dance floor.
The interior of this bag is quite delightful. A bright sixties pattern jumps out in orange and pink, reminding me of the drug and love-filled heydays of the psychedelic generation. That said, you won’t be blinded looking at the print – so no need to worry!
Thankfully, you do also get practicality, something often left out in bags with a big visual punch. You have the metal feet to protect your hold-all from wear and tear, as well as interior pockets and brilliantly long handles. An excellent and bold handbag that is great for making a style statement.
