I love the look of stingray, but I have two problems with it. The first problem I have with it is that it comes from a stingray, which seems semi-endangered to me, even if it’s not. The second is the price. The rarity of the skin makes it exorbitantly priced.
This great clutch by Halston Heritage bypasses both of those problems by using a faux skin. And even though it seems like stingray would be really hard to replicate, Halston has done an amazing job here. The sparkly, nubbly texture of this leather looks just like stingray to me, only perhaps slightly less rubbery.
The simple shape of the clutch lets the material take center stage. This is the kind of bag that won’t detract from your outfit by being too showy, but it’s special enough to hold its own. It’s also versatile in the sense that it would equally fabulous with an evening gown as it would with jeans.
At $195, the Susan is really a steal for a designer clutch. Even if it’s faux stingray, it’s still real leather, and the quality of the craftsmanship is very high. The combination of good design and affordability makes this clutch a total winner.
