Gucci delivers a hobo worthy of its name with the Bella.
This hobo truly is a thing of beauty. Gucci’s extracted the essence from the familiar handbag style and done away with everything that can be gimmicky about the style. It’s more sophisticated than your average boho fare, thanks largely to the more structured design. The bamboo decorated tassels nod to bohemia, but they’re small accents rather than defining style elements.
The brown color isn’t the world’s most exciting hue, but it’s very refined and versatile. It’ll work its way into your wardrobe no matter what the year or the season, unfailingly on trend and ready to serve at any occasion. And when we’re paying so much for a purse, as we always do when it bears the Gucci name, that versatility is more important than attracting attention.
It’s also vital that we get our money’s worth, so I’m thrilled to see the Bella’s so usable. It’s large but not enormous, and well-appointed with an array of interior pockets and hardy cotton lining. We also feel suitably pampered by the easy to close zip top, the leather trimmed pockets, and those protective metal feet on the base. This is a bag made to serve, and it performs that functional admirably.
The Bella’s $1495 price tag will be out of reach for many, but if you can afford it I’m sure you won’t regret investing in this timeless hobo.
