Giuseppe Zanotti isn’t one of my favorite designers. It seems like he starts with a good idea (sometimes someone else’s good idea), but then takes it a little too far. This suede clutch perfectly demonstrates what I mean.
The glitter-treated metallic black suede of this clutch is amazing. It’s one of my favorite materials, and it looks fabulous here on a simple pouch clutch purse. It looks sparkly, but weathered, which means that it could go from casual to dressy and back again with very little transition.
So far everything’s great, right? Nice shape, beautiful material, what could go wrong? Well,hypothetically, you could attach a really tacky, rhinestone-encrusted Jolly Roger zipper pull. But that would be insane, because it would make something inherently chic look really really cheap. That, I’m afraid, is exactly what happened to this bag, my friends.
Luckily, zipper pulls are easy to pry off and replace. But for $595, I really don’t want to have to take a pair of pliers to my handbag, do you?
