This hot new bag from Foley + Corinna combines the subtle luxury of soft, supple leather with a touch of hard-edged attitude. The matte leather is the perfect showcase for the shiny gold pyramid studs. Sometimes it seems like designers go a little crazy when it comes to studs, placing them willy-nilly in abundance all over a bag. But, that is certainly not the case with the F+C Stud City. The tote has only four, perfectly-sized, thoughtfully-placed studs.
This restraint in studding allows all the other details of the bag to shine through without the exterior looking gaudy or overworked. The front pocket features a goldtone zipper, and pulls closed with a sleek O-ring. The frayed-knot ends of of the rolled leather handle are a unique and lovely touch.
What I like most about the bag is its unusual shape. It really strikes a great balance between structured and slouchy with its soft bottom and frame top. The smaller size of the bag solves some of the problems that I saw in the Jet Setter Jr., in terms of the bag being slouchy to the point of slovenly. The Stud City is 10.5″ wide x 14″ tall when the top frame of the bag is folded over, and 20″ tall when opened up.
I love the versatility of the Stud City. The ability to fold the top down and use the removable shoulder strap makes it easier to imagine with a wider variety of outfits. On days when you just have to bring everything you own with you, you can fill it to the brim and hook the handle over your arm. When you don’t need as much, you can just let the top flop over and use the shoulder strap. Worn either way, the Stud City is one bag that definitely works double time in terms of style.
