Christian Louboutin brings a French, feminine look to everything he designs. There’s something so special about his accessories that they are almost always reserved for evening wear. This Amaya clutch is a testament to the man’s uncanny ability to design the chicest pieces around.
The black satin fabric on the Amaya is perfect. It has shine to it, but not that 1980s polyblend appearance that so many satin clutches have. In fact, it almost looks like grosgrain. And the deep blue/black color will complement any evening wear palette.
The shape of the Amaya is strategically simple. It’s a traditional pouch of traditional proportions with a very traditional fold-over front. All that traditional design leaves a lot of room for the delicate beauty of the asymmetrical ruffles to shine through. Seriously, what could look more ultra-feminine and drop-dead sexy at the same time? This is a red carpet ready bag if I’ve ever seen one.
The price is also red carpet ready, I’m afraid. At $895, the Amaya is beautiful, but I’m going to have to hold out for that Oscar nomination.
