Anya Hindmarch is a relative newcomer to the fashion scene, and her initial reception was warm and welcome. But this season she has relied heavily on casual canvas totes that aren’t particularly exciting. This Newspapers And Magazines totes is another disappointment.
The black canvas tote is sturdy, durable, and totally utilitarian. The bag relies on the graphic print to create its stylishness, and honestly, it just doesn’t go that far. The “Anya Times” graphic seems a little narcissistic considering she hasn’t yet made a real name for herself, yet, and while the white line drawing is cute, it isn’t particularly compelling.
The only other embellishments are the dual leather straps and the tiny Anya Hindmarch bow logo. The straps ensure the bag’s durability and give it a classic look, but the graphic’s lack of sophistication takes away from that. And the logo bow just looks a little precious on a bag that already lacks style.
At $110, the Newspapers & Magazines tote is decently priced for a designer tote bag, but it just doesn’t deliver much.
