Anya Hindmarch came on the design scene just a few years ago, but since then she’s had a lot of ups and downs. Honestly, she just doesn’t seem to have found her own style completely, yet. She sort of bounces between sleek modern styles and quirky feminine ones. This Huxley bag is of the former variety, and if this is where she’s headed, I’ll definitely be following close behind.
The black leather material of the Huxley is almost impossibly smooth and supple. And while I love stringray as a prominent fabric, it can be a little overwhelming. It is far from overwhelming on the Huxley, and the stringray insets and tassel add just the right amount of interest.
Something really fabulous about the Huxley is that it is equal parts beautiful and practical. No one could deny the classic good looks of the clean design, but it’s also full of utilitarian features that make it incredibly usable. Design features are even conveniently marked “bits & bobs” “phone” and “music”. Plus the detachable shoulder strap makes it a really big winner.
At $1,395, the Huxley is certainly not cheap, but the luxurious materials and timeless design make it totally worthwhile.
