Alexander McQueen was known as a fashion rebel, but every now and then his legacy label delivers an accessory that’s relatively quirk free. There may not be a space in your closet for skull-decorated minaudieres or knuckle duster clutches, but I’m sure we could all use a bright blue hobo like the Chanter.
Saturated color is predicted to be big this fall, so I’m sure this royal blue Chanter will fit right in. That color makes this hobo feel very regal, and vibe is further emphasized by the military coat-like golden studs. I love the way the fashion house has used studs of different sizes, and restricted them to the sides and base to avoid overkill. Studs might be on the way out, but they’re applied so artfully here that you wouldn’t know it.
We always feel a bit pampered when we’re carrying an Alexander McQueen accessory, and this one’s no exception. The dip in the zip top makes sure the Chanter fits snugly under our arm, while the high quality suede feels luxurious to touch. This fabric rarely looks as good after a few seasons, but those studs on the base should offer a bit of protection where you need it.
Alexander McQueen bags never come cheaply, and at $3150 the Chanter is no exception. I’ll need to receive a significant raise to ever contemplate spending that amount on a handbag, but if I ever have that kind of cash to spare this one would tempt me!
