Alexander McQueen’s eponymous line always manages to bring punk and chic together in a seamless way, which is no small feat, and the line is successful where many others fail. This Brittania clutch has all the opulence that you’d expect from a high-end designer bag, but with a decidedly DIY attitude.
The fleshy nude leather of the Brittania is totally on-trend, but I’ve not seen it used in such an edgy way. I love the combination of the soft color with the hard, smooth surface of the clutch. The shape is a signature McQueen favorite, and it looks perfect here with this new color palette.
The Union Jack stud design is spectacular. Pyramid studs of three different sizes form the iconic flag design on both sides of the clutch. This all-over approach looks great, but I do wonder how comfortable it will be to hold with all those little studs pressing into your palm.
The rhinestone embellished skull clasp is another tough luxe touch. Between the skull and the studs, I’d describe the overall appearance of the Brittania as dangerous in a “look, but don’t touch” sort of a way.
