When Phillip Lim came out with the Edie last season, I loved it, and I didn’t think I could love it more, but this upgraded edition for fall has some subtle improvements that are really impressive. Phillip Lim’s designs have been uncannily on-trend and still amazingly unique the season, and this Edie bag is definite proof.
The new Edie combines buttery soft, snake-embossed black leather with gunmetal leather embellishments on the front bow and pocket. This multi-tonal design isn’t the only change, but it is a good starting point. Lim has also moved some of the stud detail around. The strap, which used to have studs only on the handle now is absolutely covered in studs. This is a great edgy touch that perfectly offsets the girlishness of the bow.
Luckily, Lim hasn’t changed much about the shape and size of the Edie. The dimensions have altered ever so slightly. It’s slightly taller and thinner, which just makes it seem more proportionate. The price has gone up slightly, from $695 to $725, but the small increase is worth the subtle, but significant, improvements.
