The SAK Stellaris Tote It seems The SAK might have been taking design lessons from local senior citizens when it created the Stellaris Tote.

This tote's crocheted body has a homely old world charm about it. It's given a bit of a modern kick though with its scalloped edges, which are rendered in a slightly darker fawn hue. This tote looks like it's made from wool but it's actually crafted from polypropylene, The SAK's current fiber of choice. This high tech material feels soft to the touch, but it's actually very durable. You might have seen it used in carpets and ropes; applying this tough material to fashion makes a lot of sense.

Metal rings near the straps give the design a little attitude, although we'd never call a pale knitted bag edgy. They do balance the style though, offsetting some of the softness just enough.

It's easy to suggest that we could have made the Stellaris if we sat down for a few hours with our nan. But for just $79, is it really worth our time? That's an affordable price for such a quirky tote bag.
