Stella McCartney isn't one of my favorite accessory designers, and I've never made a secret of that. I admire her commitment to using animal-friendly materials, but they don't always make for good designs. But she's sort of surprised me with this fold over tote. It's over-priced, but remarkably well designed.
The cream canvas combined with the tan faux leather is a classic, elegant look. Although the leather is faux, you really can't tell it from the real thing. This is literally the first time I have ever said that about Stella McCartney's materials, and I'm really happy to be able to do so.
The design of this bag is pretty ingenious. It looks great as a curvy-handled tote, but it's also super chic folded over into a more traditional handbag shape. Okay, so, traditional may not be the right descriptor here, since the style is actually quite eye-catching and unique, but it does have a timelessness that will appeal to a lot of women. It's also really really practical because of the dual handle options.
As usual, I find the price of McCartney's designs to be unreasonable. The design is great, but $1,125 is just too much to pay for it.
