Reed Krakoff Editor Nappa Leather Tote

Reed Krakoff's new line hasn't been one of my favorites this season, but it has gotten a lot of attention. The styles have been a little low key and expensive for my taste. This Editor bag is pricey, but it's a better buy than other bags similar to it.

I really like the subtlety of the two tone leather on the Editor. The colors contrast well, and the textures are also slightly different, which adds interest. The gunmetal hardware is a small contemporary touch.

Let's be honest about the style of this bag. It's really similar to the Hermes Birkin bag. I often dislike such obvious "designer imposters," but I think the Editor has a lot going for it all on its own. The tall shape is elegant, and the strap and buckle details are modern, but refined. It also has a lot of little details that show the quality of the workmanship, like the metal feet on the base and the all but invisible seaming.

At $1,090, the Editor is expensive, but not as expensive as the Birkin, and its seasonless style will serve you well for years to come.
