Miu Miu is the slightly quirkier expression of Miuccia Prada's design genius. I love the line for its fresh, trend-setting, irreverent appeal. You could say that Miu Miu is what happens to Prada when it goes a little bit off-kilter, still clean and high quality, but, well, a little weird. In other words, Miu Miu is not your mother's Prada.

The Matellasse Tote is a great example of Miu Miu's appeal. I love the punchy, vibrant color, and the slick gloss of the leather. The detailed pleating gives volume to what would otherwise be a very plastic-looking bag, and the arrow-like pattern that is created is eye-catching.

The dual rolled leather handles are held to the tote with fabulous grommeted goldtone plates, and the Miu Miu logo is small and unassuming, just how I like it. With a 6" drop on the handles, the Matellasse is a great bag to carry by hand, but the handles might be a little short to fit comfortably over your shoulder, unless you have a small frame.

The generous 16" x 12" x 4" size makes it a great choice for an everyday bag, particularly if, like me, most of your clothes are black and you need something bright to perk them up. I also think that this bag is ladylike enough be an amazing choice for a girl with preppy taste who's looking to add a a little touch of the surreal to her wardrobe.
