Marni Leather And Quilted Nylon Tote | Unusual Brown And Khaki Tote With Stud Details

1 min read

I should admit from the get-go that I have mixed feelings about this bag. Marni has traditionally been one of my favorite accessories lines, but lately I’ve been feeling a little bit wishy-washy about the label. Perhaps because bags like this leather and quilted nylon tote are a little wishy-washy in and of themselves.

This bag just doesn’t seem to be able to make up its mind about what style it’s going to be. I think the combination of the smooth, luxe, dark brown leather and the utilitarian khaki quilted nylon could be amazing, but the way it comes together just leaves me with a big fat question mark. Is this bag supposed to be a nod to 90s styles? Some sort of uptown-meets-downtown collision? It’s really too hard to tell.

The shape of the bag is a little odd as well. It calls itself a tote, but if so, it’s sort of been flipped on it’s side, which makes it only okay for toting. That and the dual top handles and removable shoulder strap aren’t really thick enough to support much weight comfortably, should you decide to fill it.

The stud detail is okay, but combined with the other unintegrated design elements, it just looks a little thrown together. This mish-mash of indecision is hardly what I expect for $1,200, particularly from a label that is usually so chic.
