Marc Jacobs is using new laser cutting methods to create streamlined designs for the Marc Jacobs Collection accessories line. This Rockabilly bag keeps a little closer to the mainstream than his Marc by Marc Jacobs line, but pushes against boundaries in terms of technique and detail.

This squarish shape of the purse is formed by tons of curvy, laser cut strips of leather. Which means that from far away, it looks a little everyday, but up close, the details are amazing. I love the way the pieces fit together perfectly; it really shows off the detail-oriented craftsmanship.

But truthfully, while I like both the idea and the look of the bag, I think it's a little plain for its $1,350 price tag. I understand that the laser cutting technique is new and expensive, but at the end of the day, I just want a little more bag for my buck.

This is a beautifully designed piece that is great for everyday use. Besides the strip design, it's so classic that I can't really imagine what outfit it wouldn't go with. I also really dig the way the curvy zipper reiterates the overall design concept, but I do wonder how well that curvy zipper will hold up to everyday use. Zippers aren't really known for their ability to corner well.

Overall, this is a cute bag, with fabulous conceptual details, but it's too average from afar for me to rave about.
