I have always said that I have a love/hate relationship to Judith Leiber, but this is one bag that I love without almost any reservations. I'm not even that overwhelmed by the price, which is affordable in a relative way.
I've never seen Leiber work in satin before, but she has a real knack with the material. She's used it in such a way that it shows off the sheen of the material and allows the rhinestone detail to be used in a novel way. The shimmering white jewels stand out beautifully against the black satin backdrop. The fabric has been folded over on the edges and absolutely covered in sparkling crystals, which gives the clutch a very elegant contrast.
The shape of the bag is that of the classic rectangular clutch, but the geometric rhinestone detail adds an origami-esque element. This clutch has a lot of old Hollywood glamour that still comes off as modern. It's basically made for the red carpet, except the price, which at $1,070, is the least expensive Leiber bag I have ever come across.
