An elegant gold plaque makes this Constance Clutch from Jason Wu literally a ray of sunshine.
If it weren’t for that Louis XIV inspired rays of sun plaque at the corner, this black clutch would surely have blended into the background. However this accent makes the Constance interesting without undermining the eternal elegance of basic black. I love the way the golden metal detail is complemented by the classic push clasp.
The Constance’s appeal is mostly about the surface, but it does offer details that make us feel pampered. The interior lining is hardier than many purses, and its zippered pocket an improvement on the tiny open pouches we typically see. Jason Wu doesn’t do a lot more than his rivals, but he does it better than many.
However I’m still not sure that justifies the Constance’s very expensive $1475 price tag. You won’t want to wait for evening outings if you hope to see value for your money.
