The financial crisis hasn't tempered our taste for exotic purses, but it has forced many of us to tighten our belts. Convincing alternatives like this Evans clutch allow us to have all of the glamor of these luxury leathers at a fraction of the price.

This sexy purse favors a simple design which puts the glossy mock croc finish in the spotlight. The slick patent fabric shines, emphasizing each and every scale.

I only wish the rest of the purse could be so alluring. The slender profile looks chic, but it's entirely impractical for most evenings out. Your cosmetics and cell phone will fit inside, but they'll make tell-tale bulges too.

There's no shoulder strap either, which is bound to become tiresome towards the end of any big night. The slim design makes hand-held carrying easy, but it's also a little restrictive when you want to dance with that handsome stranger or indulge in a few cocktails.

It's called a clutch, but its flaws mean I probably wouldn't use it that way. It's not my ideal evening bag, but it could be a great wallet to stash inside a larger tote.
