Emilio Pucci has a reputation for creating bags that are bold and brassy. This purse may not have the colorful signature print we've come to associate with the designer, but it definitely doesn't lack any personality.

The problem for me though is that it just seems a little too big. Gold leather is a statement all its own, a fabric that needs to be handled with care lest it overwhelm an outfit. It definitely doesn't need all the embellishments we see here.

The bag's body is covered with stripes of beads and rhinestones. The occasional bit of sparkle can add color, but when done to excess these features look overworked and tacky.

Another competing element is those handles. They're so chunky, and the whipstitching clashes with the gold studs. The plethora of skinny leather straps which attach the handles are just another detail which fights for attention.

The result is a bag which is simply overworked. The busy design might appeal to those ostentatious divas out there, but most bagistas will pass this purse over for a much chicer, sleeker look.
