Anya Hindmarch is really coming into her own as a designer. She’s developing a posh urban aesthetic that is feminine and modern. This Coburn tote is a great, and very sporty, addition to the line.
Two-tone bags are all the rage this season. I’m not exactly sure why, but I think it’s that these more subtle design details are an easier investment to make in a recovering economy than totally far-out designs. In any case, the very pink nude leather is a great contrast with the black sides. It has an almost pearlized finish that is very chic.
The design of this bag is a little unusual. It’s very boxy, and almost traditional, but with the unusually short strap and stud detailing it doesn’t come off as traditional at all. I particularly like the addition of the striped canvas strap, which is both detachable and adjustable. The Coburn strikes a great balance between sportiness and femininity, which the Hindmarch logo (that I usually hate) enhances.
I really like the style of this bag, but honestly, I think $1,200 is a little bit much.
