Its name conjures up images of eating ice-cream by the Jersey Shore, but Nixon’s Boardwalk is really a bag for all seasons.
It takes its cues from traditional hobos, but it downplays the style’s typical boho leanings. There are no tassels or beads to tizzy up the design. That makes its lines much cleaner, and its design much more wearable. Not that the Boardwalk is boring. Its crackled finish masks the synthetic’s shortcomings, and its trapunto stitching adds just the right amount of spice.
The Boardwalk might be a bargain basement bag but it doesn’t feel like one when you’re using it. The cotton poplin lining is durable and the array of pockets just what we need to keep our important items in order. In a better bag those pockets would be trimmed with leather, but for the money I think Nixon’s offering us plenty. Sure we’d all love to carry a sumptuously soft purse, but at this price point we’ve got little right complaining.
For a mere $55 the Boardwalk is a great way to update your wardrobe without spending a lot of money.
