Nicole Lee seems to have set out to silence anyone who thinks the combination of black and white is boring. This Houndstooth shopper is so far from ordinary, I barely know what to make of it!
From a fairly traditional base Nicole Lee seems determined to break almost every rule. The shape of this shopper is very odd, with lumps and bumps in the strangest of places.
She’s mixed and matched her houndstooth to create a kind of artistic patchwork effect. At least I suppose it’s intended to be artistic, but like all the best art I’m predicting fashion fans will be disagree about it. Do all those sequins create pizzazz or are they simply too flashy? I’m just not sure. Black leatherette patches on the front and side hide pockets. I appreciate the extra space, but I also think they make an already busy bag look more cluttered.
While the exterior is over complicated, Nicole Lee plays it a bit safer inside. It really ticks all the boxes, with plenty of space and pockets too. But the biggest draw card is its convertible design. Undo the clasp on the top for some extra space. It’s not as secure in this mode, but if you’ve got a heavy load you won’t mind. It’s refreshing to see a purse which looks so impractical putting functionality first.
It’ll take the most daring fashionista to wear this handbag well, but if that’s you feel free to rock this unusual shopper!
