To be honest, I didn’t really notice Mulberry until the past few seasons. Its line is solidly classic, but some of its designs don’t really appeal to my edgy aesthetic. However, some of its designs manage to balance out the traditional and the modern in a way that is almost universally appealing. This Greta shoulder bag is the perfect example of what I mean.
The pebbled black leather on this hobo is supple and durable, the perfect combination of structured and slouchy. The hardware and tassel design adds a preppy touch to this simple hobo, and the prominence of the gold hardware gives it a slightly edgy look.
The Greta has the kind of hobo shape I can really get behind. It’s not so wide and shapeless that it looks sloppy, but it still slouches a little so that it has a casual appeal. The front seam design adds interest to the center of the bag and creates a linear complement to its curviness.
Honestly, I think the Greta is a great design, but $1,150 is a bit much to pay for it.
