MICHAEL Michael Kors is a line that I almost completely ignored until recently. Honestly, I’m not a big fan of the designer, so why would I bother with his diffusion line? Well, there are a lot of good reasons, actually. The line is, in my opinion, a lot hipper than his collection, and a lot more affordable to boot. This Riley satchel is a great example of the line’s trendy aesthetic.
The black leather on the Riley has a great pebbled and weathered look that makes it instantly cool. Add to that all the silver hardware and zippers, and you have an urban aesthetic that’s really hard to beat at this price point.
The shape of the Riley is really well thought out. It’s a traditional satchel with some modern additions that make it look really contemporary. The front zipper pocket is both functional and fabulous, and the side pockets are perfect for stowing those important to get to items. There’s also a very convenient detachable shoulder strap. The only thing I don’t really like about the bag is the giant MK hangtag, and it’s easily removed.
At $450, the Riley is a hard bag to beat. It’s practical and cool, and on its way to becoming an urban necessity.
