Marni is one of those lines that changes things up as soon as you think you know what to expect from it. Trendy, I expect from Marni. Cute and quirky I also expect. Totally bizarre I wasn’t prepared for. But that’s exactly what this goat hair bag is: totally, completely bizarre.
I can’t exactly put my finger on how I feel about the use of such long goat hair on this bag. My intial reaction is YES! But right after that I think it just looks like someone dropped her weave onto a shoulder strap. In any case, these long furs are really getting some play, lately, so I guess we should get used to them.
Who can say what the shape of this bag is underneath all that hair? I just can’t make any statements about it at all. It’s probably not muppet-shaped, but the hair gives the impression that it might be. There are really no other embellishments on the bag besides the hair, which is probably a good thing, since it’s so overwhelming. The strap is the most unassuming part of this bag with its simple silver buckle and slim design.
Among the long list of things that confound me when it comes to this bag is the ordeal of determining its value. Would I, personally, pay $1,500 for a bag that looks like a pampered pet? No. But I might just not be cool enough to appreciate it.
