The Marc by Marc Jacobs line is the little sister to the Marc Jacobs collection. It brings the classic MJ design sensibility to a hip audience at a lower price point. At its worst, it’s boring or trendy, but at its best, the Marc by Marc line is a budget fashionista’s dream come true. The Natasha bag falls into the latter category with its hip, urban stylishness.
The pebbled black leather is soft, but has a durable toughness and a rugged look. The shape of the Natasha is what’s really working for me, though. It manages to be both small and slouchy, which seems like a pretty major feat. It means that the Natasha has a fabulous casual look, but isn’t a giant behemoth to carry around.
The large fold-over flap has an exposed zipper that opens onto a usable compartment, and the flap conceals the main compartment, which closes with magnetic snaps. The strap is long enough to wear across the body or over your shoulder, and is adjustable so you can take your pick. I’m not a big fan of giant cross-body bags that bang against your hip all day, but the Natasha is sized just right.
At $330, it’s also priced just right. There’s no way that this level of cool is going to stay on the shelves at that price for long, so if you love the Natasha, you better snap one up quick.
