Mad by Design keeps it simple with the Onyx Stingray tote.
The name is unique, but pretty self explanatory when you look at it. The Onyx part comes from the black finish. Black is classic yet contemporary, and so easy to coordinate with anything in your wardrobe. But if it’s not for you, the same stingray bag is available in other colors, including various shades of brown.
The Stingray of the moniker is an obvious reference to the shape. The narrow base and wide top mimic the silhouette of the marine animal. It’s so simple, yet such a striking look. In a move that’s sure to please animal lovers, it’s made of environmentally-friendly bamboo rather than stingray leather. The fabric isn’t just good for the planet; it keeps the price down and the tote lightweight.
It’s a good thing too, because those ring handles won’t feel comfortable once you start filling the tote up. The sad thing is, there’s so much space available. Yet with those hard handles, you’ll never be able to utilize it all comfortably.
The addition of a longer shoulder strap, and a few more colors in the collection would have been welcome. But for the bargain price of $54, I’m considering overlooking the shortcomings and embracing the Onyx Stingray’s good looks.
