It’s interesting for a designer like Jimmy Choo, whose own styles defined the first decade of the 2000s, to emulate the designs of the past in such an explicit manner, but that’s exactly what he’s done on this Roxana bag. Of course, Choo hasn’t just thrown together a bunch of outdated trends, he’s interpreted some of the best 80’s elements and made them his own.
The black leather on the Roxana is so smooth-grained that it almost looks synthetic. It’s sleek, buttery soft, and it contrasts beautifully with the slim, braided leather drawstring straps. On that note, while the straps look amazing, I’m not sure how comfortable they’d be digging in to your shoulder all day. Wearing the bag across the body will help, but it’s a huge bag, and it will be hard for most women not to fill it to the point of discomfort.
The slouchy style of the Roxana combined with the braided leather and bead detail gives it a bohemian vibe, but the flap closure with the smooth, geometric clasp keeps it classy. The tassels add a little rock-n-roll flair, but in a subtle sort of way.
