Hype has reinvented the tote bag with the ultra-cool Georgina.
The traditional box shape is gone, replaced with sexy relaxed curves. The Georgina’s soft slouch is toughened up with plenty of gleaming silver-tone hardware and edgy contrast stitching. In some ways I feel like the Georgina’s a little overdone. With a long drawstring and buckled belts up top, then shiny zippered pockets on the sides, I’m not quite sure where to look. But it all adds up to an edgy visage in keeping with the taste for all things 80s.
Those punk rock looks make the Georgina’s color palette a little confusing. Black always makes a dramatic statement, but the other options are a little bland. White seems too prissy for the bag’s bad girl style, and the pale petal pink and celadon green aren’t much better.
The options are much better inside, with plenty of pockets to help us survive the urban jungle. There’s plenty of space to spread out too, helping the Georgina make the transition from day to night.
At $350 I wouldn’t call this tote bag cheap, but it does offer today’s retro rock style for a lot less than Alexander Wang.
