You don’t need to be a dab hand in the kitchen to work this Mini Chef bag from Fendi.
Its name doesn’t make a lot of sense until you imagine this bag turned upside down. With its domed shape, gentle pleats, and wide band this bag could easily double as a chef’s hat!
Of course, it’s been given Fendi’s trademark style treatment. I had to look hard to see the signature print, which is exactly how I like it. The black on black option is more subtle, and thus more stylish, than the tan and brown lettering we typically see. Fendi knows many of its fans love the labels though, so the Mini Chef is also available in that contrasting print.
While the signature print tickles my fancy, I’m less enthusiastic about the star-shaped studs. I suppose they give the bag a hint of whimsy, but they just seem a little juvenile to me. With the rest of the bag appearing so grown-up, they almost cheapen the look.
As it’s called a mini, this bag’s small stature shouldn’t surprise you. It should be able to handle a small French style wallet, your cell, and the essential cosmetics, but I wouldn’t expect it to carry much more than that. That makes the short handle a little more acceptable. While I always appreciate an over-the-shoulder carrying option, this purse shouldn’t be too difficult to manage by hand.
At $315 this purse is probably too expensive considering its less than luxurious materials and small size, but it’s also Fendi. If you’re on a budget, but still keen to own a slice of this famous fashion house, the Mini Chef may be the bag for you.
