Be still, my beating heart. The new Marc Jacobs Collection accessories for Summer have me feeling faint. Despite economic hard times, Mr. Jacobs has combined some of the most striking and luxurious materials on the planet in this exciting new line.
The traditional shape of the stam bag looks amazing in this ingenious combination of colors and textures. Purple snakeskin has been woven with contrasting metallic strands of green and red leather to create the material. Honestly, I have just never seen anything like it, and I mean that in the best way possible.
Although the Memphis Stam combines cutting edge design techniques, the effect is absolutely ladylike. The colors of the bag set of the gold toned hardware gorgeously, and I am completely won over by the combination of the dual rolled snakeskin handles with the removable chain link shoulder strap. The kiss lock closure and the charms dangling from the front exterior pocket are quirky and loveable touches.
Overall, I think this bag is so ingeniously designed that I have a hard time finding anything wrong with it. Except that, while I adore the look of the huge chain shoulder strap, I think its probably not the most comfortable strap out there. The generous 17" x 9" x 8.5" size is big enough to accommodate the belongings of almost any woman.
With offerings like the Memphis Stam, I can't wait to see more from the new Marc Jacobs Collection.
