Linea Pelle Vanessa Large Hobo Handbag | Unusual Slouch Purse with Hand Lacing and Exaggerated Fringe

59 sec read

I was starting to feel like designers had done just about everything they could to reinvent the hobo, but then I spotted the Vanessa. Here Linea Pelle has done the seemingly impossible, and delivered yet another variation on the boho staple.

There’s a hint of classic crescent in the shape, but it’s a lot longer and more angular than I’d expect. The trademark slouch is exaggerated too, helped along by lovely soft, buttery leather. In black there’s a little rock drama about this purse, but the long, sparse fringing and braided shoulder strap bring this hobo back to its bohemian roots.

The soft slouchy nature of the Vanessa gives it a devil-may-care look, but with that comes a few impracticalities. Slouchy purses are notoriously difficult to get items in and out of, and this one isn’t any exception. Set it down, and the Vanessa will crumple into a puddle of leather. This is a purse that looks its best dangling from your shoulder, rather than actually being used.

Functional limitations are made a little easier to forgive when purses are reasonably prices though. That’s such a relative term, but at $495 the Vanessa is a lot more affordable than many It bags out there.
