Clearly the kind of star Kathy Van Zeeland is channeling is the edgy, rocker type. The combination of shiny black synthetic and gleaming silver hardware oozes all the attitude of a music icon like Mick Jagger or Jim Morrison. But unlike these stars, this shopper doesn’t set the trends; it follows them. Studs seem to be on every second bag these days, and the execution here is nothing new. In my opinion Kathy Van Zeeland is a bit heavy-handed with the hardware, but anyone who knows the designer probably isn’t surprised.
Peek inside and it’s a different story; the modern cool of the exterior gives way to a feminine floral lining. Such a starkly different material is a curious choice, and one which does nothing for the bag’s rock star cred. The space is well designed though, with a handful of open pouches and a large zippered pocket helping to keep the generously sized interior organized.
At least at $110, this shopper won’t leave too large a hole in your pocket. That should be some comfort when the studded trend inevitably passes.
