Juicy Couture Tomboy Caroline Satchel | Pink Leather 1970s Cross-Body Handbag

1 min read

I’ve been one of Juicy Couture’s harshest critics, but even I can admit when the brand does something right. And with the Tomboy Caroline satchel, the label has done several things right. While the name might suggest otherwise, this is a bag which delivers femininity with style.

Nothing in pink could ever be accused of being tomboyish, but this gentle shade called Ballet Dancer isn’t as garish or sugary as most of the pink Juicy bags I’ve seen. It’s the sort of shade women could happily wear to the office without being thought of as a Barbie doll, and it might even win over some of the girls who’d never dreamed of carrying pink before!

Perhaps part of its success is that Juicy Couture doesn’t cover this bag in other fussy feminine details. The styling is very practical and even masculine with bold hardware and clean lines, so it gets away with the girly color choice. And if it’s still too girlish for you, you could always opt for the gray-brown dust or black shades.

That practical appearance is matched by functional design. It’s just the right size for everyday use, and its leather trimmed pockets should stand up to that kind of day-to-day punishment. I’ve never been a fan of short handles, which are often awkward to carry once the bag is full, but I can forgive it as we get a cross-body strap too.

At $348 this is one of Juicy Couture’s most expensive handbags, but it’s also much more stylish and timeless than the label’s usual fare.
