There's something about this B. Makowsky Lucca hobo that reminds me of a Marc by Marc Jacobs handbag. I think it must be the combination of buttery soft leather with unique design details.

Like the Totally Turnlock Quinn and the Softy City Bag, the Lucca's bold color choice accentuates the lightly pebbled texture of the leather. The look is sophisticated and the kind of quality befitting a designer purse.

One of the best details is the front pocket with its coordinated stitching and soft pleating. The silver-toned hardware is quite exquisite. When you look a little closer, you'll notice the small floral details on it. That's definitely not something I'd expect to see on a Marc by MJ bag, but it's just the sort of unexpected accessory that sets B. Makowsky apart as its own brand.

Marc Jacobs is one of those designers who seems, year after year, to determine the trends. At least in America. Last year's line of neon bright accessories foreshadowed the popular obsession with neon. This lemon yellow Hobo continues that trend, but takes the volume down ever so slightly.

This is a fatter hobo than the usual, and I really like that because it creates more useable space and has none of those teeny corners for your change to drift into. The stitch details follow the voluptuous curves of the bag and add a touch of luxury to this very aggressive accessory. 

The pleating adds volume to the main compartment, and the look of the two straps is fabulous. The thick leather one is made for comfort, and the chain link strap adds an extra edgy punch. The scalloped flap top closes with the trademark turnlock clasp.

The 17" x 13" x 3" size makes this hobo totally fit in to the oversized bag trend. In fact, I'm pretty sure I could fit my laptop in there. Not that I would sully such a great accessory that way, but it's nice to know that I could. And at $430, this bag is really reasonably priced for its size and quality, so that makes it another winner by Marc Jacobs in my book.

Oh, there's nothing like a little Marc Jacobs in the summer time to maximize your fun in the sun! His poppy color palette and fresh, juicy designs are the perfect additions to long days and longer nights.

This structured hobo, called the Tobo, I think because it melds his Totally Turnlock collection with a classic hobo, is awesome. It's a hobo with a flat bottom! I know, I get a little excited over seemingly minor innovations, but seriously, I love having the look of a hobo on a bag that doesn't totally collapse when you set it down.

My over-enthusiasm aside, this bag does look pretty hot. The smooth grained berry leather will add a great burst of color to your wardrobe, and will look amazing against increasingly popular floral prints. The flap and turnlock closure adds a cute and casual touch to the structure of the bag, and makes the softness of the hobo shape shine through.

I really dig the thick, gathered leather handle, it looks like it was made for comfort. And on a bag this size, that's really important. Particularly because you'll want to carry it everywhere. And the price, at $498, is pretty reasonable for the designer category, so you might just be able to!

Elie Tahari offers his take on the popular turnlock satchel with the Tamar.

The richly textured pebbled leather is chic and stylish, but I can't say the same for the turnlock front pocket. It should be an elegant addition, but its size makes it look a little gaudy. The black finish helps to tone things down, but it also means the fastener lacks the chic style we've seen on Coach's Hamptons Vintage Hobo or Marc Jacob's Totally Turnlock Quinn.

What it lacks in looks it makes up for in practical design. The Tamar is large without being overwhelming thanks to its convenient triple compartment design. A large zippered pocket in the center divides the interior into separate sections to make organization a breeze. The side walls amp up the storage options with a zippered pocket and three handy slip pouches.

The rolled straps feel heavenly in your hands, but they're too short for over the shoulder carrying. It won't be an issue in the office, but I'd probably leave the Tamar at home for those long shopping sprees.

Sometimes I wonder if Marc Jacobs ever gets it wrong with design. It seems that no matter what style he's going after, the result is always fabulous. The Coach Hamptons collection has been a favorite of many for a while. Most of us have seen at least one photo of a celebrity carrying one of these popular handbags. Though the Marc by Marc Jacobs Softy collection comes in many different styles, the City Bag satchel is one of the best. The soft, textured leather is nothing new for Marc Jacobs, with popular bags like the Quinn, but this satchel breaks out of the Totally Turnlock category for a slightly more modern look.

The black leather option is great for keeping things basic, but the bright red is a great choice for spicing things up and sticking with the recent vibrant accessories trend. The saturated color looks great on the leather of this slim satchel.
